A federation of SHGs, AAGAAS has been working towards promoting the craft of ringaal or hill bamboo, indigenous to the hills of Uttarakhand. Having been established in 1997, the AAGAS Federation’s area of operation now spans 65 villages in Chamoli Garhwal and more than 345 Artisans who are formally associated with the Federation. They have also initiated weaving of natural fibres such as Himalyan nettle and of industrial hemp in Uttarakhand.
