Stackable and Portable Loom

With the help of an additional grant from CtoK, Shabir is now CHANGING THE PROCESS OF WEAVING with his next innovative loom, a modernised version of his earlier invention of the portable loom. With the new loom weighing only 13 kg and costing Rs6800 vis-a-via the traditional loom which costs Rs10,000, this new loom is even more compact in size than the previous one making weaving faster and easier for women as well ergonomically more effective, extending itself to use by weavers with a leg handicap them to earn a sustainable livelihood from the confines of their homes.

With the new loom developed by him, Shabir hopes to SUPPORT MORE WOMEN ARTISANS in the coming years as well as EMPOWER WOMEN WEAVERS by enabling them to start their own Pashmina shawl manufacturing units and work independently of the traders.
