Shaping process in which a material is clamped and rotated around its axis; as it rotates various cutting, drilling and sanding tools are applied to it. This process is used to create products that are symmetrical around the axis of rotation such as table legs. It can be used on materials like wood and metal. Turning differs from most other manufacturing processes in that the material to be shaped is rotating while a relatively stationary tool is applied to it.
