Stone carvings of this region were patronized by rich and powerful kings of Katuyaris, Paun, Chanda and Pawars dynasties. Baleshwar, Kedarnath, Jageshwar, Bageshwar, Panch Kedar, and Almora showcase some extraordinary examples of this craft. The craft is still being practiced in the region.
