Among the exceptional brass objects of Rajasthan are the inkwells and pen cases found even today in the street bazaars of Udaipur, Jodhpur, Ajmer, Pratapgarh and Dungarpur. Brightly coloured pagoda shaped inkwells and pen cases are common sights here. Using the cire perdue technique of casting a variety of images of rural deities and votive objects are made. Brass incense burners with perforated leaves and handles in the shape of snakes, parrots, peacocks or lotus stalks have always been popular. Nutcrackers, hookah bases and chillums, smoking pipes and brass containers for lime are the other popular objects made in Rajasthan.
