Inaugurated by President KR Narayanan in 1999.

The museum has more than 500 representative items of terracotta, woodcraft, masks, tattoos, jewellery, metal craft and tribal and folk paintings. There are terracotta figures from Chhatarpur ranging from the traditional animal shapes (elephant, tigers) to modern figures (engine drivers, trains), Jirauti paintings on canvas which though similar to Warli paintings from Maharashtra, use a wide palette of colours, and the metal work of Bastar.
